Healing a Hurt Back

There’s nothing quite as painful as a back injury. Even if it’s something chronic, and the ache is something that you’ve learned to live with, you shouldn’t have to wince and shift your way through life. To that end, look into various kinds of lower back pain relief, and you might be surprised at the kind of mobility you get back once you find a solution. Things that used to be painful like hiking, biking, or even walking, can be pain free or at least drastically less painful than when you’re experiencing the lower back irritation.

The most common reason for lower back pain is arduous or difficult projects that you’re not use to such as yard work of heavy lifting. This can cause muscle strain or even a “slipped disk” that can create persistent and nagging pain. The best way to relieve the pain without any additives is with rest and light usage. Lie on your back with a pillow under your neck and knees. This will take the weight off your back. Then walk around for a few minutes every hour. Simply lying around will only weaken the muscles. Even if it causes discomfort, walk around, and you’ll actually speed the recovery process.

I don’t let my age slow me down. I try to take care of my body by being physically active. I was even recently in a marathon that featuring kids half my age. And I was able to finish ahead of most of those college kids. My secret is that I don’t smoke and I watch what I eat. No fast food for me! I load up on calories form healthy sources such as fish, vegetables, and fruits.

I do get to feel my age once in a while, it is mostly due to my arthritis. It is inevitable as my parents both suffered from it. But my arthritis is not as bad as theirs. I simply take some ordinary medication and I immediately get joint pain relief. The only advice I would give to kids is to take care of themselves when they’re young, so they don’t feel the pangs aging early on.

A cream that contains methyl salicylate, menthol, and eucalyptus may provide muscle pain relief.

Workers with a lot of physical work must also learn to use the proper body mechanics when lifting heavy packages. They must bend through their knees while keeping their backs straight. Office workers, on the other hand, must keep their back supported and make use of ergonomic chairs for back support.
